I always delete my temporary internet files/caches/history from the explorer aside from unloading the java console,emptying the my_recent_docs folder %26 emptying the recycle bin.I use WinXPpro-SP2,but did not upgrade the Internet Explorer.Also, my system_restore is always on %26 using only AVG as antivirus.Will it be possible that past downloads, joined chatrooms %26 sites visited be retrieved?

yes it can be, try CCleaner, or window washer to delete it completely.

it will overwrite the file around 7-10 times so it will be undetectable.

yeah their is a possibility of the sites being found because if they haven't been written over on the hard drive then they are still their. so if you want to truly protect your self from your habits you need to get a shredder program that will write over the deleted files with ones and zeros that should protect you from your self.
i think not anymore. when you clean up your internet history and eveyrthing all of it will be deleted. you said LONG AGO, even you will use a undelete program to retrieve files you already deleted it is hard or imposible to retrieve it because the sector/cluster on your hard drive where your deleted files where previously resides is maybe already writen a new files.
