Alot of security alerts pop up and ask me to download their antivirus software. i don't but how do i get rid of this stuff as normal ''adware'' doesn't pick this up when i run it.

if its in windows it self you will have to use the windows ''administrative tools'' (usually found in control panel) and choose ''service'' and you go to disable the ''messenger''. this does not affect your msn messenger. its a messenger within windows itself that communicate through internet.
