I'm trying to upgrade a tower system with Windows XP to the latest service pack (SP3), but the installation has failed twice with the message ''Access denied'' about halfway through the install (the download is OK). I've turned off the antivirus software and firewall, but the installation is still failing with the same cryptic message. All other routine upgrades/installs have gone OK. Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure that you are attemping to install it from the administrative account, and not a user.
