Is it a virus or spyware?

i started getting these pop ups all the time, even when im not on a web page. there are 2 porn ones, a loanfinder one, and a couple of things that bring up these text boxes that when you close them they take you to a site to download win antivirus pro. i have norton antivirus and i use spybot search and destroy. nothing helps or makes them go away. what can i do? kids use my comp and they have to see that bad stuff when it pops up.

Neither a virus or a spyware. Your computer seems to have a Trojan Vundo infection and you will most likely need to use a tool called VundoFix to remove it. Have a look here:

Hi, I was having the very same problem and also that ever annoying winfixer antivirus continually popping up and would often freeze pc. I noticed someone here mentioned Xoftspy, I also installed Xoftspy for the same problem that you are experiencing, later I came across an article in Spyware warrior listing it as a scam/rogue product but now is delisted as such and that is a relief to me, because I found it to do a great job, fewer pop ups and not bothered by the Winfixer pop up only when I visited some sites, I also installed Spyware Doctor, please do not confuse this with spydoctor they are not the same. Spyware doctor fixed the problem up completely, no more pop ups no more winfixer, I have Norton security as well for two years now, and still ended up with viruses and trojans that Norton could not remove, but since I installed spyware doctor and ran a scan with Norton it has come up clean, which shows that spyware doctor has done a great job..
